Rephotography is the act of photographing the same area twice from the same distance and position at different periods of time. It is used in science to document changes in ecological systems. It is also used to see the progression of erosion, river banks, glacier flow and land rehabilitation. It is used in social investigation to document how society changes as well as monuments and buildings. Artists often use these themes in their rephotography from a creative point of view.
